Troops kill seven at Somali school
African Union troops have mistakenly opened fire on a Somali religious school while pursuing militants, killing five children and two adults, officials said.
All five children were aged under 10, according to Dahir Amin Jesow, a member of the Somali parliament .
The attack in Leggo village, 75 miles west of the capital Mogadishu, took place at around 3am on Tuesday, he added. Students of Islamic schools often attend class in the early morning.
Mr Jesow said AU soldiers were attacked earlier by militants.
The African Union Mission for Somalia says it is investigating the incident. AU troops are in Somalia to bolster the country's weak government, which is facing an insurgency from al Qaida-linked militants.
