Two die in liner horror off Mediterranean coast
Two cruise passengers died when their liner was hit by freak waves off the Mediterranean coast of France yesterday.
The Cypriot-owned Louis Majesty, carrying nearly 2,000 people, was hit by the 26-foot wave which smashed windshields.
Another six people suffered minor injuries.
The accident happened near the port of Marseilles as the ship was sailing from Barcelona to Genoa in Italy with 1,350 passengers and 580 crew. The victims have been identified as a German man and an Italian man.
A Louis Cruise Lines spokesman said the ship was hit by three “abnormally high” waves.
