Investigators in Trinidad and Tobago have arrested two suspects in the killings of a British lawyer and his wife.

Police on the twin-island Caribbean country off Venezuela say the pair were expected to appear on Tuesday before a magistrate.

Assistant police commissioner Vincel Edwards said one suspect is a Tobago man and the other is from St Vincent. A lawyer representing them could not immediately be contacted.

The British couple were found murdered in their home in the Tobago community of Carnbee early last week. They were identified as Richard and Grace Wheeler.

Mr Wheeler was originally from Sheffield, but worked as a lawyer for the Lex Caribbean firm, where he was a partner in the Tobago office specialising in property development.

The suspects are both construction workers.
