Two men from Ireland killed in car accident in Canada

Two Irishmen have died after their car overturned in Canada.

The two men aged 33 and 42 were pronounced dead at the scene.

There are unconfirmed reports that the two men are originally from Cork. It is not clear whether they were living in Canada at the time of the crash.

The accident occurred in Melita, Manitoba, Canada at 10.30am on Saturday.

Emergency crews turned the vehicle on its wheels and extracted both men.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said they are ready to provide assistance.

“We are aware of media reports that two Irish people have been killed in a car accident in Canada. We have received no requests for consular assistance. We stand ready to provide such assistance if requested.”
