Two troops killed in Afghanistan

Two Nato troops have been killed in separate attacks in Afghanistan.

One died after coming under direct fire by enemy forces in the country's east. The other was killed in an attack in the south.

No other details or the nationalities of the casualties have been released.

Afghan insurgents have increased attacks in recent months, intensifying a campaign to regain territory as foreign forces draw down ahead of full withdrawal at the end of 2014.

The deaths bring to nine the number of coalition deaths so far this month. Last Tuesday six US soldiers died when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a mission in Zabul, southern Afghanistan.
