US agent nearly shot President Johnson
Thursday, 21 October 2010
A former US Secret Service agent has revealed that he nearly shot President Lyndon B Johnson hours after John F Kennedy's assassination.
In The Kennedy Detail, his new book, Gerald Blaine recalls standing guard outside the home of the new President early on November 23, 1963.
Hearing footsteps, he picked up his gun and, in the darkness, pointed it at a man who turned out to be Johnson.
