US Capitol 'all clear' after lockdown security alert
The US Capitol building have been given the 'all clear' and is no longer in lockdown
A loudspeaker announcement on the grounds said the alert had concluded. Police had earlier barred people from entering after reports that a woman had entered one of the House office buildings with a gun.
The Senate sergeant at arms issued a lockdown alert for the building and visitor centre, saying police activity had been reported.
Capitol police said they were searching for an individual but offered no details. One officer outside the Capitol said police were responding to sketchy reports of woman who may have a gun.
Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki said earlier: "Out of abundance of caution, the US Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center are on lockdown while USCP investigates a report of a person of interest. Building occupants are advised to shelter in place and await further USCP instructions."
