Friday, 20 November 2009
US customs officials found 316,000 glass bongs disguised as Christmas ornaments at the Los Angeles harbour.
US Customs and Border Protection said agents found the highly decorated drug pipes in 860 boxes shipped from China.
The cargo, estimated to be worth more than 2.6 million US dollars, had been described as glass figures and Christmas ornaments.
The bongs were seized at the Los Angeles/Long Beach port complex.
Customs spokeswoman Cristina Gamez said the importer remains under investigation and there have been no arrests. She said it is illegal to import or export drug paraphernalia in the United States.

War on drugs? - America needs to wise up and concentrate on the real things - Like Poverty, jobs for the people not the elite, - The tide is changing - when they can use hemp for medicine in certain states but criminalise it in others, it makes a mockery of their policy. Give up trying to fill your prisons (which are privatised$) and use hemp the way it was used years ago - for fetiliser, manufacturing, health, this would stop your reliance on oil and having to invade everywhere on the planet where oil exists.Turn the corner and become the nation you were meant to be.

What's the problem here?
Can't a "bong" also be a Christmas ornament?
It's all in the eye of the beholder, and to whom s/he is beholden!
