US drone strike in Pakistan kills 3

A suspected American drone fired two missiles at a home in a north-western tribal region of Pakistan, killing at least three foreign militants.

Pakistani intelligence officials said the strike took place just late yesterday in the village of Qutab Khel in North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan.

They said initial reports gathered from their agents in the field suggested the dead men were Arabs.

The American drone programme is extremely unpopular in Pakistan because it is perceived as killing innocent civilians, which the US denies.

Many in Pakistan also consider it an affront to their sovereignty but the US has shown no indication it is willing to halt the programme.
