Sarah Palin's makeup artist is McCain campaign's highest paid staffer
Monday, 27 October 2008
Sarah Palin's makeup artist was the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October.
The traveling makeup artist was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission.
The figure means that the make-up artist was "the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain's presidential campaign," according to the New York Times.
Amy Strozzi, nominated for an Emmy award makeup work on the show "So You Think You Can Dance?", was paid more than John McCain's foreign policy adviser and his senior communications staffer.
McCain's foreign policy adviser, Randy Scheunemann, was paid $12,500 for same period according to the finance reports.
The campaign categorized Strozzi's payment as "Personnel Svc/Equipment."
The Republican National Committee received strong criticism this week after a report showed that around $150,000 was spent on clothing, makeup and hair for Palin and her family in September.
"Those clothes are not my property. We had three days of using clothes that the RNC purchased," Palin told Fox News.
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign has said it paid for hair and makeup costs, but neither the campaign nor the Democratic National Committee has paid for clothing.

Wow. All I can say is wow. We have been hearing about the 150k wardrobe for some time now on national news but this just takes it to a new dimension. A makeup artist getting paid more than a foreign policy adviser? What a Joke!

professorial type looking for a Gov job ! For heavens sake!

this would not be a big deal if mccain and palin were not the two most confused and illogical presidential candidates in history. if more money is being spent on make up than FOREIGN POLICY then I don't see why this article is not a shock to you TJ than you must be one of the most out of touch republicans in this country.

Doesn't anyone realize that all of this makeup and designer clothing does nothiing other than make the candidates look good. Are they going for a spot in Vogue or running for a leading office in the most powerful country in the world (right now). I think this speaks very poorly of the United States, of which I am a proud citizen, that at this time in our history, the devastation of the stock market, affecting the world, people unable to keep their most treasured possession, either their home, lifesavings or jobs. One of our leading parties is concerned about makeup, REALLY. Isn't anyone ashamed????????? Not to mention paying a makeup artist more than an official that could actually offer real help.

Hey TJ. You don't think it matters that Republicans are paying more for a makeup artist than for an adviser on foreign policy? Or any other adviser? You don't think that is news? How bizarre! An update Xfactor is not news.

Is this really news? ... and, I don't think Hillary Clinton will have skimped on her outfits and make up but no one makes an implied criticism of her.
