Better than 40 acres and a mule. This moment went into my DNA and let ancestors; future generations and all know that black people are indeed loved in America. Thank you Americans, thank you!

We, the People, voted for hope
and the votes were counted
Cynics come and cynics go
But optimists are the ones who keep the lights burning
God bless y'all

What a historic day!
If only I caould have been there to take part in the festivities!
A group of us ex-pats are celebrating in NZ!
We all breathed a big sigh of relief as we watched the best sight we could hope for - finally, the former president has left the building....
Sending best wishes, positive energy, and warm regards to the new first family - good luck with the challenges that you are facing!
I pray that your cabinet and coalition will bring some great changes for the nation -everyone !
Sending patriotic thoughts from upside down under,
kind regards,
Yankiwi

My grandson from Tuskegee, Alabama was a part of this and I am thrilled that he could be there. He is a senior at Booker T. Washington High in Tuskegee. He is one of their top student and I am a very proud grandmother.
President Barack Obama you go.

I find it impossible to celebrate any kind of new american president (no matter what the colour of his skin) when Gaza is suffering because american money pays for Israeli weapons. Unless Obama makes a commitment to the support of the Palestinian people, he is no different from any of the other useless american presidents.

Not very happy about this whole situation. His mouth keeps going but I'm not sure if he realizes what he is saying. He's trying to take on the world, not gonna happen. Get off the "First Black President". If that is the only reason you voted - then I guess we deserve to get . This election was a race election not a knowligble election. And why are we taxpayers paying for this. Do you realize how much this crap is costing us? I thought we were in debt? Couldn't they just take him out to a nice dinner? Any President for that matter. Save some taxpayers money. I'm not against a black man or woman being President. But I vote every year, Regardless. "So if you haven't voted in 25 years and this year you voted because he was black and he's gonna help you pay your house payment". (Yes, that comment was on our local news). Get your head examined. Rude awakening coming soon. Pray for the years to go by fast.

Tears of hope and joy is what I have at this moment, for an immigrant like me and my family. The endless possiblities of what the United States of America stand for. Hope to us all, who perserve and believe that all of us are truly equal, not only to the eyes of the Supreme Being, but to this human time. Thank you sincerely, Ting Gatdula & family

Thank you God that a black man has been given the amazing opportunity of being Commander in Chief of such a great nation.

I'm so thrilled that my son is old enough (12 yrs) to remember and appreciate this historical event---as we are watching it on t.v. as a family! Not officially in office yet and already our new president is bringing the nation together.

I truely wish they would get off the race issue of OBama being president. It really isn't that he is 50% black and 50% white. Its more that he was the right man for the job! I feel terrible for him coming into this mess that Bush created over the past 8 years. He has his work cut out for him, and its going to take more then 1 term to fix it. How Bush can hold his head up proudly in public is beyond me. He should be hanging his head in shame. God bless you Mr OBama and your family!

I am so proud and emotional to be a part of this historical and religious event. The color of ones skin has for so long played a part in american history and on this day in america we will heal a wound brought on by a painful history. I always said it is funny how we can appreciate the beautiful colors that make a rainbow but find it hard to appreciate the colors of the human rainbow that God placed upon this earth. God doesn't make mistakes he made us who we are on purpose and we as a people can use this day to come together and appreciate the beauty of the human rainbow.
God Bless America!!!
