US-born pandas arrive in China

Two giant pandas born in the US have arrived safely at their new home in China.

Zoo Atlanta officials say five-year-old Xi Lan and three-year-old Po arrived yesterday at the Chengdu research base of giant panda breeding.

They will be placed in routine quarantine for a short period before moving into their new habitats.

The two young pandas left Atlanta on Monday.

Zoo Atlanta associate veterinarian Sam Rivera and lead keeper of carnivores Kenn Harwood say the bears are adjusting well.
