Venezuelan wins Miss Universe title

A 25-year-old Venezuelan who appears on TV in her own country and is also an accomplished flamenco dancer is the new Miss Universe.

Gabriela Isler was crowned in the pageant held at a sprawling exhibition hall on the outskirts of the Russian capital, Moscow, tonight.

In the excitement just after the announcement, the tiara fell off the winner's head as she was being crowned, but she caught it, laughing.

Patricia Rodrigues of Spain was the runner-up.

The panel of judges was led by American rock musician Steven Tyler.
