Video: When female footballers attack - Elizabeth Lambert
Tuesday, 10 November 2009
A hard-tackling, hair-pulling female footballer has become an internet sensation after a series of violent fouls were caught on camera.
Elizabeth Lambert was suspended from the University of New Mexico team after being seen hitting, kicking and, in one instance, pulling an opponent down by her hair during a game against Brigham Young University.
Millions of people have watched clips of the defender's bad behaviour online since the footage was filmed last Thursday.
Team coach Kit Vela said: "Her actions clearly crossed the line of fair play and good sportsmanship."
The college player has apologised for her actions but she could still face further disciplinary action.
She said: "I am deeply and wholeheartedly regretful for my actions.
"My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation. I take full responsibility for my actions."

It was the same two players #7, and #21, on all occasions who were clearly antagonising Lambert. It is not all her fault, the other 2 players actually started it with her, and she got fed up with their behaviour, and she took action. Video doesn't always show the truth.

I just to comment that I saw the video in question and after paying close attention...the other team's girl elbowed Elizabeth and then the other girl grabed her shorts...I personally think that Elizabeth had every right to defend herfelf.

This girl obviously has anger issues and probably has parents that are defending her saying she only retaliated. If it was retaliation, why so many acts caught on tape? Hope she doesnt have kids. Shes sorry now after she got caught. Reminds you of a possible future casey anthony. She should be kicked out of school, now! Get her out on the street where the law can catch her and lock her up. It wont take long!

This type of behavior is at no time tolerated even in third world countries as Belize.The girl really needs help, before she plays any sport.

this sickens me. She appears to be someone that did not have parents the discipline at home. I can't believe the lack of parenting today. I blame the parents as much as the kids. This girl was not upset in the moment. It is her nature and most likely should have been dealt with many years ago.

what about the other player holding on to her shorts before she pulled her hair back? Is she going tobe disiplined also?

Why isn't she being brought up on charges of one or more of the below
* Conspiracy To Commit
* Conspiricy To Commit Harm/Bodily Injury
* Assault & Battery
* Disorderly Conduct
* Intent On Causing Bodily Harm
* Poor Sportsmanship
There are grounds for charging her with
* Criminal Misconduct
* Criminal Mischief
I don't see how that's just news, yet a suspension at the worst. That girl need to be charged with what she done.
she could have broke that players neck
she could have gave her a concussion
she could have paralyzed her
This story is NOTHING to be talking about as it is just poor sportsmanship. This was AND is criminal.
Joe Scarborough called it like it is. She Should NEVER, EVER be allowed to play ANY sports, ever again for any league(s).
We aught to be outraged that this is something that just happens.. and we just cover it.
If she's a real sport, she would simply quit right now.
