Vietnam War mass grave located

A mass grave was found containing the remains of 25 communist soldiers killed during the Vietnam War, an official said.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Luyen, head of the military command of Quang Ngai city, said the remains were recovered yesterday.

Lt Col Luyen said today that construction workers discovered the remains while digging a drainage system.

The remains were believed to belong to the communist commandos who were killed while attacking a prison of the US-backed South Vietnamese government during the Tet Offensive in 1968, a turning point in the war when northern forces conducted surprise attacks on a number of southern-controlled cities.
