Vigilance urged in Saudi Arabia

The Foreign Office has reminded Britons in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant after the US government warned that terrorists may be planning to abduct Westerners in Riyadh.

Americans in the kingdom were warned to "exercise prudence and enhanced security awareness at all times" but no further details of the possible plot were given.

The Foreign Office in its travel advice said: "All British nationals should continue to exercise vigilance, and check this advice on a regular basis... On 28 September 2011, the US Government warned that terrorists may be planning to abduct Westerners in Riyadh."

The overall level of the advice had not changed, it said.
