Woman gives birth to 2ft long baby boy

Asher Stewardson was born Jan. 26, 2012, weighing 13 pounds, 13 ounces. He measured 23 1/2 inches.

A woman in the United States has given birth to a boy weighing 13lbs 13oz - without the aid of surgery.

Asher Stewardson was born on Thursday at Mercy Medical Centre in Des Moines, Iowa, measuring 23.5ins long. Fifteen months ago, his brother Judah arrived weighing 12lbs 1oz at birth.

Mercy officials say only a tenth of 1% of all new-borns weigh more than 11lbs at birth.

The boys' mother, Kendall Stewardson, endured six hours of labour without an epidural injection. She says she and her husband Joshua wanted to avoid Caesarean delivery because that would not have been good for her or Asher.
