A former councillor in North Down, Alex Easton was first elected to the Assembly in 2003.

Why did you want to become an MLA?

To oppose the Belfast Agreement and to get a better one for the unionist community, in other words, that is the St Andrews Agreement.

Apart from work and family, what are your main passions in life?

One of my main passions would be reading, particularly family history.

What single issue would you hope to champion in the Assembly?

To campaign for a better health service.

What, if anything, is in most urgent need of change in the Stormont system?

I believe we need to move away from a mandatory coalition and move to a voluntary coalition Assembly to make it a more normal system of governance.
