Bronwyn McGahan: Sinn Fein, Fermanagh & South Tyrone

Why did you want to become an MLA?
I was asked to stand by the local structures! I have been a member since 1995 and have had various roles within the party. A lot of political parties operate from the top down but I am interested in grassroots politics and we operate from the bottom up with the local cumann (branches) active on all sorts of issues in the community.
Apart from family and work, what are your main passions in life?
When I have time I get involved with Gaelic for Mothers and I love walking.
What single issue would you hope to champion in the current Assembly term?
Investment in rural areas.
What, if anything, is in most urgent need of change in the present Stormont system?
While I am relatively new, I feel that we need a more joined-up approach among the different departments, that would be important.
