recognise this scenario. A bunch of people are splashing about in the sea
giving the appearance of having a wonderful time. They shout to someone on
the shore, “Come in. it's lovely.” And the someone jumps in. Surfaces.
Screams “It's ******* fffffrrreeezzzing.”

The 18th century poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, had a reputation of being a
bit of a sniffer of, what today would be called, the ‘wacky baccy' and to
have written much of his poetry under the influence of opium. I've read some
of it and I believe it.
