You could set your watch by the annual storyline on Strictly Come Dancing. Every year, there's a comedy character wheeled out purely for their distinct lack of dancing skills.
We expect it by now, and there'd be ructions from fans if there was no John Sergeant or Ann Widdecombe (above).
But then the time comes when that contestant goes too far and good dancers end up in the bottom two at their expense.
And so poor old Hairy Biker Dave has this week found himself at the centre of a whispering campaign about why he's more popular than the po-faced but nimble-footed Abbey Clancy. Because he's great fun, that's why.
