Good Vibrations: The Belfast film that left me shaken and stirred
Some of my favourite films – Amadeus, Shine, The Man with the Golden Arm – have been attempts to capture the mysterious power of music and the borderline madness of the people who make it.
This year gave the genre another gem. The Belfast-born and bred Good Vibrations showed the world that not only are there top-class talents living and working in Northern Ireland, but also that the stories they want to tell don't all involve balaclavas, checkpoints and mutually assured hatred.
Cult film critic Mark Kermode will soon be announcing his nominations for the Kermode awards; look out for much GV love!
