The MPs taking a bit of licence
Grant Shapps says the BBC should face a licence fee cut if it can't 'rebuild public trust'.
He didn't appear to be joking when he, a Tory MP, opined that public trust was crucial for any body which receives public money. That's the same money which funds the wages of that highly trusted breed, British MPs.
The BBC, in the face of endless budget cuts and redundancies, continues to be one of the greatest, most credible and most envied broadcasters in the world.
The House of Commons is still a hive of ruthless, scornful, self-preserving egotists. I know where I want my cash going.
