Will brave Amanda's return to work pay off?

Amanda Holden declared herself 'euphoric' to be returning to work on Britain's Got Talent this week, just 19 days after the birth of her daughter and her own near-death emergency on the operating table.

Some said she was brave, some foolhardy. I looked at the pictures of this drawn, frail ('Amanda's got her body back!), ill-looking woman hobbling into the lion's den and felt sorry.

I thought she just looked scared.

I wonder how much the news that an ex-Baywatch babe would be warming her chair motivated Holden to wrench her weakened body out of bed and into a taxi.

For me, those first days of a new baby were pretty euphoric themselves, and I don't think even the hairy lure of Simon Cowell would have pulled me away. I just hope her employers recognise the level of Amanda's sacrifice and return it with loyalty.

Though I doubt Cheryl Cole or Danni Minogue would think that very likely.
