Don't mess with Cheryl, or else ...
She tweeted her disdain after Cher Lloyd, the artist (I use the term loosely) formerly known as her mini-me sneered at La Cheryl in an interview suggesting she couldn't sing live.
Ms Lloyd - yet another spawn of X Factor - had a pop at her one-time mentor during a live radio interview.
But Cheryl hit back, tweeting furiously (and possibly ominously) "Be careful who you kick on your way up .. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.. #unappreciationisugly."
She does have a point. Cher the younger, is not exactly a major artiste. And slagging off the woman who was her most loyal champion comes across as churlish and arrogant.
All round, not the smartest move. A point that seems to have belatedly occurred to Cher herself who was soon back on telly "explaining" that it was only her little joke. She also accepted that she should not have allowed her mouth to run away with her in the first place.
"I'm in the public eye now, so word vomit is not good."
Let's hope that will be the end of it. Never mind the damage the duelling pair may be doing to their own image. But - unappreciation? Word vomit? They're not doing a whole lot for the English language either.
