Gerry Adams has accused the dissident republicans of engaging in “old-fashioned physical forcism” (his word.)
That presumably would be the same old-fashioned physical forcism which Gerry condoned and defended down the years of the Troubles. The same old-fashioned physical forcism which achieved absolutely nothing other than the deaths of thousands and, as one commentator recently pointed out, an agreement by the Dublin government to drop its constitutional claim to the north.
Gerry says that those dissidents who murdered the two soldiers at Massereene and the policeman a week later did so “almost because it could be done.”
He accuses them of vanity. An interesting analysis. Gerry, of course, was never in the IRA himself.
Wonder what some of the former foot soldiers make though, of his new contempt for the old-fashioned physical forcism which was for so long their stock in trade?
