Had a great chat with Linda Ervine the other day, over at the East Belfast Mission on the Newtownards Road.

She set up Irish classes there some years back and they are hugely successful, attracting learners from all parts.

In the face of much praise and some strong opposition, she has achieved great things by reclaiming a language for everyone here – Protestants who never knew it had any connection to them and people like me, brought up Catholic, taught some Irish, but put off it by its seeming association with all things republican.

Maith tu, Linda!
