Drama queens take centre stage
I confess I had a wee titter at some of the reaction to the Apollo theatre ceiling collapse last week.
I know it's no laughing matter when a show brings the house down, literally, but it was the sheer luvviness of the responses from London thesps that made me smile.
Normally, reaction to accidents is limited to a few inarticulate bystanders stammering, "It were awful. I didn't know what to think." But not in theatreland, oh no. From Elaine Page (above) downwards, they were queuing up to be quoted.
Possibly the only time most of them will see their names on the front pages.
