Glam new neighbour can be so tempting

Imagine you've been happily living with the love of your life for years, when one day you wake up to discover that the most beautiful women in the world are about to move in next door.

You'd be understandably wary and easily forgiven for feeling a bit insecure and possibly slightly sorry for yourself.

"How can I compete with Kylie's bottom, Penelope Cruz's bee stung lips or the sultry glamour of (insert your own favourite pin-up here)?"

Friends will tell you not to worry. "He loves YOU!!" they'd reassure you. But you might not be re-assured. Because there's always a tiny room in our heads reserved for doubt.

Why am I saying all this? Well, it's my attempt to draw a parallel with Tesco opening up a new shop right beside a long-established local small supermarket on the Ormeau Road in Belfast.

I know Tesco isn't necessarily glamorous, but it has certain attractions.

And while locals might insist they'll never betray the long-standing small supermarket, there is always room for doubt.

So probably best to look but not touch.

Whatever you do, just don't get caught gazing longingly into the windows of the usurper, the young pretender, the other woman... well, not if you value your meat an' two veg.
