Kennedy announces resurfacing works for Rasharkin

Stormont Executive press release - Department for Regional Development

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £100,000 resurfacing scheme on the B62 Main Street/Finvoy Road, Rasharkin.

The work is due to begin on 20 February, from Moneyleck Road North towards Ballymoney for approximately 0.6 kilometres.

The Minister said: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on part of this important road connecting Rasharkin to Ballymoney.”

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses elements of this work, where possible, will be carried out using lane closures only.

However, full closures of the Main Street/Finvoy Road will be in place on 24 to 27 February inclusive and on 5 and 6 March to facilitate carriageway surfacing works. During the closures a signed traffic diversion via B70 Ballymaconnelly Road, B64 Bann Road, B64 Glebe Road, C88 Mullans Road and C89 Tullaghans Road will be in operation for through traffic.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 6 March 2014.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public. However, motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
