Kennedy announces the start of £260,000 resurfacing works in Belfast

Stormont Executive press release - Department for Regional Development

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £260,000 major resurfacing scheme on Duncrue Street.

The footway and carriageway work is due to begin on Monday 21 October between Whitla Street and Duncrue Road.

The Minister said: “Benefits of scheme include an improved footway surface with an overall strengthening of the road structure and improved carriageway surface."

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public the work is programmed to be completed using temporary traffic management control for the footway works and a one–way closure for the carriageway preparation works.

The work will be carried out between Monday 21 October and Sunday 24 November with the footway reconstruction carried out each day between 9.30am and 16.30pm. On completion of the footway works the carriageway preparation will require a one-way closure system with traffic diverted using Duncrue Road and the M2/Shore Road.

Weekend closures will be necessary on Saturday 16 November from 1pm on Saturday and all day Sunday 17 November and again Saturday 23 November and all day Sunday 24 November for the laying of the wearing course surface.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
