Stormont Executive press release - Department of Agriculture and Rural Development
Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill has met with representatives from the Rainbow Project to discuss how DARD can address the needs of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T).
The Rainbow Project is the largest LGB&T organisation in the north, with centres in both Belfast and Derry, working primarily to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of gay lesbian, bisexual and / or transgender people.
Speaking after the meeting Minister O’Neill said: “This was a very positive meeting which provided a good opportunity to discuss how my Department can continue to raise awareness of LGB&T networks and support services and address their concerns especially in relation to those living and working in rural areas.”
The Minister added: “I would take this opportunity to reaffirm my commitment to equality and my officials will continue to work closely with the Rainbow Project in taking forward key issues relevant to the LGB&T sector.”
