Has world ended for Chinese Mayan believers?

The Chinese don't muck about. There are too many people? Right, everybody can only have a maximum of one sprog or else they'll be imprisoned.

Too many dogs? Right, kill all the dogs. It's quite odd really. You couldn't find a people more distant from the ancient Chinese philosophy of Taoism than the Chinese. There's more Taoism in the West than the East. What do you have to say about that, Confucius?

The latest victims of the all-action-and-no-thought approach are these nutters who think the world is going to end this weekend (I wish).

The Chinese have considered their Mayan-style claim carefully. And have arrested them. Half of those detained belong to a sensible organisation called Almighty God, also called Eastern Lightning. I see.

Indeed, the comical Christian sect preaches that Jesus has reappeared as a woman in central China. Righty-oh.

Tell you what, China: throw away the key.
