Age-old problem of showing too much cleavage is hard to bare

Cleavage news ... and controversy was manufactured this week with the revelation that office bosses regarded overt boobular display as a no-no.

A poll for a fashion website backed this column's hitherto ineffectual campaign against inappropriate mammarial exhibition- ism, which you often see at funerals, State openings, nightclubs, and other places or events demanding decorum.

And that's before we get started on those dozy bints who let it all hang out in the street - then look annoyed when guys gawp.

Sadly, this sort of thing isn't new. In a fascinating article on the Skinny Cow website, top titular expert Lily Loofbourow cites the Ladies' Dictionary, of 1694, which speaks of displaying "two ivory globes, or little worlds of beauty, whereon Love has founded his Empire" and which "captivate the wondering gazer's eyes". I trust the author was burned at the stake. Meanwhile, we still suffer from such shameless flaunting - like the fair Jordon (left) .
