Amazing friendship that's true cause for celebration
Today we publish a story about the bond between two centenarian ladies whose long lives have been remarkably entwined.
Gwen Parkhill and Nan McLaughlin were born in Dungiven, they moved to Coleraine, they lived in the same street, attended the same church, worked in the same shop, became engaged in the same week, and their husbands bought rings in the same jewellers.
Now they live in the same care home, and they admit: "We couldn't do without each other." They will be given a joint party next month to celebrate their amazing friendship, and what a special, and deserved, party this will be.
