Annie's last orders

Belfast has one of the liveliest music scenes for a city its size.

And many young musicians with stars in their eyes – as well as established performers like Gary Lightbody and Paolo Nutini – have had magical nights in Auntie Annie's bar on the Golden Mile. Sadly that musical legacy will end tomorrow when the doors finally shut on the cash-strapped venue. These are hard times and sentiment plays no part when figures don't stack up. Venues like Auntie Annie's are a bit like the musicians it once hosted. One day they are the most popular act in town, the next the fans melt away. But the one thing that can never be dispelled is the memory of great times and the hope this bar will one day make a comeback under a new owner.
