Such are the checks and balances built into the justice system that it is possible for the person who is wronged to gain redress, even if that may take a considerable period of time

From our photographs today it seems that Rory McIlroy's injured ankle is on the mend. Sadly, he will not be on the course when The Open begins today and he, like the rest of us, will be watching over the next four days to see if the young pretender to his title of the world's best golfer - Jordan Spieth - can capture his third Major of the year.

Hopefully Rory will be back on the tee for the next Major next month, raring to prove his status as world number one and giving Northern Ireland more badly-needed positive publicity. Meanwhile, good luck to our other Major winners, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke, in this weekend's Open.
