Astonishing Olympian Sarah Jane is an inspiration to us all
Contrary to what a certain Scottish comedian might think, people with disabilities are capable of the most astonishing things. Witness the achievement of Lisburn swimmer Sarah Jane Johnston who has won a bronze medal at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles.
Sarah Jane has multiple disabilities and was not expected to live beyond her first birthday. She not only proved that prognosis wrong - she is now 35 - but also leads a busy lifestyle. Her refusal to be constrained by her disabilities is truly humbling for those of us fortunate enough to be able-bodied and inspiring to her peers and teammates.
