The efforts of people to do something positive for their community never fails to amaze. We are often told that society today is increasingly selfish, but Heather Clatworthy is typical of the people who prove that assertion wrong.

The mother-of-two became the first person in 90 years to swim the 13 mile-stretch of sea from Donegal's Inishowen Peninsula to her childhood hometown of Portstewart.

She took on the challenge to raise money for the town's RNLI branch and improve outdoor recreation facilities in the area. Completing the swim was a tremendous feat, and hopefully she will soon be floundering under the weight of donations.
