Big cheer to all those who helped save Meg and her pups

Too often it is stories of animal cruelty which make the headlines, but today we salute the staff and volunteers - including a midwife - at a Moira animal sanctuary who performed sterling work when an abandoned dog gave birth to eight pups.

Their sole motivation was to ensure that mother Meg and her pups were given the best possible assistance. Sadly two of the pups died but now the other six are currently awaiting rehoming in a couple of months' time.

Somewhere some other dog lovers will enjoy the companionship of man's best friend in the future because of the work at the sanctuary which deserves all the support it gets.
