Bravery of Amanda in battle against Ebola truly heroic

How many of us would act like Amanda Moffett, who went without hesitation to work in the front line of the battle to defeat the spread of Ebola in Sierra Leone? She ran real risks to her own life through her job testing blood for any sign of the disease and left behind a worried family and fiancé.

But she realised that she could help to save lives by using her medical expertise and that was enough motivation for her. She is typical of the generosity of spirit and selflessness of so many people in Northern Ireland - witness the huge donations given to help those made homeless by the Nepal earthquake. She would blush at being called a heroine, but she is.
