Brokenshire right to make crucial Northern Ireland talks his priority
The Secretary of State James Brokenshire has a great deal on his mind in the attempt to reach agreement at Stormont, with the possibility of a second election on the longer horizon. Clearly the least of his worries is a visit to meet President Trump in Washington on St Patrick's Day. In more normal times, such a visit would underline the historic ties between Washington and the peace process in Northern Ireland.
However, these are not normal times and Mr Brokenshire has made the right call in staying over here and trying to get an agreement before the March 27 deadline.
