Chance for begger Alec to bring some order into his life

The sad story of the ex-soldier Alec Getty, who has been convicted for serial begging, will touch many hearts. The judge had every right to send him to jail, but Alec was given a last chance.

He has underlined his determination to stop begging, but only time will tell whether or not he will do so.

Some people look on Alec as a nuisance, while others feel that he needs one last chance. Certainly, he found some goodwill in court and among the general public.

For his own good, we all hope that he can stay off the streets, and bring some order and purpose to his life.
