Digging deep to unearth rich history of docks community

The area of Sailortown at the Belfast Harbour Estate is rich in history and even richer in the range of characters who once lived and worked there.

It was once the most cosmopolitan area in the city, and there are many recollections about Sailortown and even more rich yarns from the past, but the archaeological dig taking place there is likely to go deeper and further than the folk-memory of those from the area. It is utterly fascinating to be given a glimpse of our archaeological past and to be able to learn from it.

However, it's a pity that this does not apply to our politics.
