Diver Daniel deserves equal billing for Olympic heroics
It is easy to understand the anger of the extended family of Olympic diver Daniel Goodfellow - including those members in Northern Ireland - at the media treatment of the bronze medal winner. Instead, national newspapers and other media outlets concentrated on his diving partner Tom Daley.
But neither could have succeeded without the other as it was a pairs competition, and it was unfair, notwithstanding Daley's greater national fame, to give him the lion's share of the publicity. Daniel deserved immense praise given the relatively short time the two have been performing together.
This was synchronised diving, and in fairness they deserved synchronised coverage.
