Eamonn quick to apologise for his Hillsborough gaffe
Eamonn Holmes may have let his tongue run ahead of his brain when including Tuesday night's attack on the Manchester United bus in the same sentence as the Hillsborough tragedy when 96 Liverpool fans died.
He was quick to realise his mistake as social media went into meltdown, and he made it clear he was not in any way comparing the two events and apologised to anyone who believed he was doing so.
Eamonn is our greatest broadcasting export, living his life largely on the knife-edge that is live television, and it is a tribute to his professionalism that his rare mistakes gain such notoriety. He recovered with his usual poise and grace.
