Editor's Viewpoint: A gold pedallist

Portaferry man James Brown narrowly missed out on a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games yesterday, but his is still an astonishing tale of endeavour.

He won two athletics medals in 1984.

Now, at the age of 47, he is competing in four cycling events.

To be competing at this level after such a long period in competitive sport is quite remarkable.

How he maintained his enthusiasm, never mind his fitness levels, almost defies belief.

He has three more chances to win a medal, but he is already a winner in the eyes of the public here. We salute you, James.
