Editor's Viewpoint: A real winner ...

Co Down teenager Jonathon Lyness didn't let a little thing like the lack of snow put him off honing his prowess as a skier.

Training on a dry slope he became so proficient he won two gold medals at the Special Olympics Ireland Winter Games and is hoping that he now may make the Irish team for the World Winter Games in South Korea next January and February.

His success - echoes of the film Cool Runnings which portrayed the first Jamaican bobsled team to make it to the Winter Olympics - shows that almost any disadvantage can be overcome given enough determination and Jonathon certainly has all the true grit required.
