The Irish team which brought home a record 107 medals from the Special Olympics in Athens deserve our highest praise. They not only overcame their own handicaps but also their opponents in a stirring demonstration of skill and will.
The human spirit is often indomitable and nowhere is this more evident in the athletic performances of this very special team. They have not only done us proud as a country, they have done themselves proud and that is an equally glorious achievement.
