Editor's Viewpoint: A veggie victory
It is probably the most humble of meals, yet one we indulge in virtually every day.
The sandwich is something we usually make in a hurry, or grab off the supermarket or sandwich bar shelf, to satisfy the hunger pangs at lunchtime.
However, to one Northern Ireland woman it is a thing of beauty and her creation - smoked cheese, pesto, and peppers on brown bread - has been judged the best in the province by no less an expert than Michelin-starred chef Michael Deane. Maybe it is a sign of these lean and mean times that the winning sandwich has no meat in it. It could be a taste we might have to get used to.
